Concern Grows Over Hillary Clinton’s Email Scandal

Earlier this month, the State Department said it would take 75 years to find all the emails Hillary Clinton sent from her private server while Secretary of State.  While the Clinton campaign and State Department move at a snail’s pace to produce answers, Americans grow more suspicious of Mrs. Clinton.

A CNN/ORC International poll released this week found 66% think Mrs. Clinton did something wrong using a personal email address and home-based server to send and receive emails as Secretary of State.  That is up 15 points from March 2015 (51%) and up ten points from last summer (56%).  The number of Americans troubled by Mrs. Clinton’s actions is likely to grow in the campaign ahead.

Voters are taking this into consideration as they contemplate their choices for president.  Fifty-nine percent say the way Mrs. Clinton handled her email is an important indicator of her character and ability to serve as president.  That is up five points from last October (54%) and up 13 points from last March (46%) – not positive movement for a presidential candidate. 

Considering voters are growing increasingly wary of her, Mrs. Clinton must find some way to put this scandal behind her somehow.
